Teri Murphy & Greg Cheney

Teri Murphy, PhD, LMFT

Teri Murphy is a licensed marriage and family therapist and ICEEFT Certified Trainer, Supervisor, and Therapist. She is the Director of the EFT Tennessee Center and provides Emotionally Focused Therapy training, supervision, and consultation to clinicians nationally and internationally. Teri works clinically with individuals and couples/partners, and her teaching focuses on attachment, emotional engagement, Stage 2 change work, attachment injury repair, and the self of the therapist. She is known for her experiential, clinically grounded teaching style and her ability to help therapists deepen their presence, responsiveness, and capacity to support clients in moments of pain, vulnerability, repair, secure connection, and emergent vitality.

Greg Cheney, PhD, LMFT, LCMHCS

Retired U.S. Army Chaplain, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. He holds master's degrees in divinity and counseling and a doctorate in Counseling & Counselor Education from North Carolina State University. After serving multiple deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan with airborne infantry and Special Forces units, Greg concluded his military career by directing the Watters Family Life Center for Counseling & Resiliency at Fort Bragg. He is the Owner and Clinical Director of Valiant Couples Therapy and Consulting in North Carolina, where he trains clinicians worldwide to understand the emotional impact of high-risk service and apply attachment science to foster healing, resilience, and stronger relationships.
